It's a Boy!

Today we had our 20-week ultrasound, and it's a boy! A BIG boy! He's healthy and measuring above the 97th percentile for his age, about 9 days ahead. The due date won't change, but at this rate, we won't want him to be overdue! The ultrasound technology is truly amazing- not just finding out gender, but being able to see so many things- parts of the brain, the spine, the kidneys, all four chambers of the heart, etc. Quite astounding! He was wiggling & moving a lot, so they got to see everything they wanted to see pretty clearly. First is a basic photo; you can see his cute little profile, and one arm (left arm) up by his face:

And here's the one that shows he's a boy!

Pretty crazy, huh? Anyway, all is well, I can feel him moving more & more each day. Lots of wiggling, I think. We have pretty definitive names picked out, and we are happy to not just be able to call him a "him" now instead of an "it", but also to be able to call him by name. So, we introduce to you...Henry William!  Henry is a name we both liked, and turns out was Brian's grandfather's name on his mom's side. And William is my Dad's name (and my brother's middle name as well. [Happy Birthday today, big bro!])  Being teachers, there were definitely a lot of names that were not in the picture...but Henry just seems perfect to us!
So, pregnancy is halfway over already- hard to believe! We start our childbirth education classes on Saturday at Bloomington Area Birth Services, so everything is seeming more and more real now! Oh yeah, and last pic, especially for those who don't get to see us often- not very flattering, but here's me (taken yesterday), showing the big bump!

Happy New Year!
